ALL MAIL DROPS ARE CURRENTLY ON HOLD!
After March 30th, I ask that anyone willing to send a mail drop first use the Contact Me tab to connect with the webmaster. Please send him a list of what you plan to include and he will confirm the list. This is to avoid mass mail drops or an overabundance of a single item. If your drop isn't required at the time, please hold onto it for a drop further along the route and re-submit the list as the date approaches. Below I have listed the basic format to address all mail drops:
Return Address
Wherever, U.S.
Zip Code
Todd Corbin c/o General Delivery
City, State, Zip Code
Please hold for A.D.T. thru-hiker
Expected pick up date
The post office will hold these packages for 2-4 weeks so it's important to pay attention to the expected thru dates I have posted below. Any package should be given at least a week to reach the post office. If my thru dates need to be adjusted I will inform the webmaster taking over this site to do so. These drops are primarily for anyone willing to donate food. I appreciate any intention to contribute comfort items, but please remember I am carrying everything on my back. Food items I can use include basically anything that won't spoil. The diet that will most beneficial for my body will consist of 50-60% carbohydrates, 20-25% fat, and 15-20% protein. Examples include:
-granola -cous cous (rice does not cook well on a fire)
-dried fruits -instant oatmeal
-packaged (not canned) tuna or chicken -ramen noodles
-walnuts -dried beans
-jerky -sardines in oil
-powdered milk -vienna sausages
-spam (is great in calorie content)
I will also be taking vitamins while traveling and currently have enough for the first 3 months. I may eventually ask for someone to send a small can of denatured alcohol. This can be found in any hardware store or walmart, (usually with paint thinners,) for around $5 and is my primary fuel source. It takes very little denatured alcohol to fuel my stove, and I'm currently carrying enough to last several months.
The first few mail drops are fairly close together as I've chosen smaller towns for mailing to prevent endless hours wandering through a large city in search of the correct post office. For the expected pick up date just add 1 week to the mail by date listed below. The timeline for these drops gives me 1 year to complete the trip. If I can keep my average miles per day at 20, it will take less than 1 year, approximately 10 months. Again, any adjustment for these drops will be done by the webmaster. This is also why I ask that you use the Contact Me tab to ensure the drop is needed at the specific time. Thank you.
